/ŋ/ is a funny sound, with our tongue lifted in the back of the mouth and air going out through the nose. We were familiar with the sound in "ng," and this week we focused on its spelled in words that end with -nk, such as "think," "drank," and "skunk."
This silly song will help you review the -nk sound with a variety of vowels!
This handy digraph is found at the end of words (or at the end of a syllable, when we get into more complex words). The students were already mostly familiar with its application in -ing words, and have been working on pairing -ng with other vowels, too. The trickiest one for us to spell is -ang, like in "hang," where the asounds more nasal and becomes almost a long a sound.
